On September 26, 2012 my Grandpa Lutz lost his battle to ALS.

It brings so much sadness to think that that something like this took take away such a great man. As soon as I found out that ALS was what he had I knew that I needed to do something. That is why I became involved in this charity and want to help in any way I can to make sure that no one else has to lose a loved one from it.

As you may or may not know my Grandpa Jack 'Doc' Lutz was diagnosed with ALS which is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. It was so  sad to see such a happy guy go through such a horrible disease. If you have ever met my grandpa you know that he is the sweetest and most caring person. He worked laying brick for many years and would still be doing it if it weren't for ALS.

In honor of my grandpa I have created a team We Trot for Doc to walk in the defeat of ALS.

Why We Need Your Help

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk speak swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial ethnic or socioeconomic boundaries.

This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $200000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
