Hey there,
As we all know COVID-19 has changed the way we do many things now. It has also impacted our ALS walk at the Zoo this year.
This year will be a "VIRTUAL" walk. I have registered We Trot for Doc to still be able to raise funds towards our cause. ALS has not gone away and we still need to do our parts to help the funding for research to find a cure for this horrible disease.
I will be choosing a place for us to all get together to do our own "Walk From Home," Walk to Defeat ALS on October 3, 2020 in honor of our Grandpa, Father and friend Jack "DOC" Lutz.
Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with ALS — it robs a person of the ability to walk, speak, eat, and eventually breathe. And what’s even worse is that right now, there’s no cure.
Will you join me and join the movement to cure ALS? It’s easy to register online at http://webmi.alsa.org/site/TR/Walks/Michigan?team_id=392146&pg=team&fr_id=14321
Why We Need your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
