Lupo ALS FundraiserHello Family and Friends,
My name is Alex Lupo. My brother Jack and I are in the National Junior Honor Society at Brownell Middle School. Each year we are tasked to do a service project. This year we have asked and have been allowed to run the Grosse Pointe Farms-City Little League stand at Kerby Field on Wednesday, June 2 during the Little League games that begin at 6:15pm. June 2nd is also being recognized as the first "Lou Gehrig Day" In the MLB community. All the money donated or received at the concession stand that night will be donated to The ALS Association Michigan Chapter to promote research and a cure for ALS.
ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and is also know as Lou Gehrig’s disease. It is a nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function. People with ALS lose their ability to walk, talk, eat and eventually breathe. ALS is a fatal disease, that sadly has no cure. Our uncle, Rich Carter, lost his battle with ALS when he was 42. Uncle Rich always loved to play baseball and softball. Whether he was skinning his leg sliding into bases, swinging for the fences or cheering for his buddies, uncle Rich was a real ballplayer. In honor of our Uncle Rich and the many others who have died from ALS, we are attempting to raise as much money as possible to try to defeat this disease.
We kindly ask you to come to Kerby Field and make a purchase on June 2 to support this worthy cause. If you can’t make it to watch some baseball on June 2, below is a link to our fundraising page where a donation can be made directly to the ALS foundation. We hope that you will help support this foundation, spread awareness for ALS and help us get closer to finding a cure.
Sincerely,
Alex and Jack Lupo There is currently NO cure, and that is just unacceptable for a disease with a life expectancy of 2-5 years.
Funds raised will go towards:
We need to do everything we can to find a treatment and a cure. Together, let's make a difference - one dollar at a time! Join us right now by selecting 'Join as a Fundraiser' or choose 'Donate' to help us reach our goal!
