Walk the Extra Mile With Us!
Dear Walk to Defeat ALS Supporter,
On behalf of the Michigan Chapter of the ALS Association we thank you for joining us at one of our Walk to Defeat ALS walks this year! As you know, the need for patient services programs for those stricken with ALS is ever present. Many of our patients and their families have worked with our staff and have received equipment/support to help them live fuller lives. The hopes and dreams of so many people, many of whom are our own family and friends, depend upon these community-based patient services and cutting edge research that The ALS Association funds. With this in mind we must “Walk The Extra Mile” to help us realize our fundraising goals.
Please consider the following areas of opportunity to help raise additional funds:

E-Mail Action Alert Send an Action Alert e-mail to your e-mail distribution list to raise additional funds. A sample of this is available HERE.
- Wrap Around Events Raising extra dollars through bake sales, garage sales, movie nights, bottles and can drives, loose change drives or any other of your many original ideas.
- Holiday Fundraising Opportunities Consider sending a letter with/or making a note in your Christmas cards to make a donation to the Michigan Chapter. Wrap friends and family Christmas gifts for a donation. You can also tell people that for a Christmas present they can make a donation to the ALS Association on your behalf :)
- Year End Gift - Make an end of the year gift to the ALS Association
These are just a few quick ideas that we have come up with.
All of these examples have the potential to raise a lot of money if done.

Letter Writing Campaign If you haven't yet done a letter writing campaign, it is not to late! Send out 20 letters to your friends and family asking them to Walk the Extra Mile with you and donate a minimum of $20.00. A sample letter is available HERE.
